M.Ed. Teacher Training at Grammar Schools / Geography

"Geography holds the key to our future."

Sir Michael E. Palin | former President of the Royal Geographical Society

No other subject addresses as many current key problems as geography. The critical examination of current challenges on a local to global scale make teaching Geography a real subject of the future, for which the study course „M.Ed. Grammar School Teacher Training / Geography“ in Osnabrück ideally prepares you. As a prospective geography teacher you will for example take a look at the sources and effects of the climate and biodiversity crisis on the earth's ecosystems and human society from a spatial perspective. In addition you will also discuss with your pupils ways in which these enormous challenges can be met. You teach young people not only the skills to criticise social, economic and ecological grievances but also the skills to help shape the future of a constantly changing environment in a self-determined and reflective way.
Other topics you will deal with in Osnabrück are, for example, global disparities, migration movements, criticism of racism, geo-media use or digitality. Examining this variety of topics and phenomena not only theoretically, but also in your own local area, such as on field trips, makes teaching the subject of geography particularly exciting and multifaceted.
