Agroecology and Soil Research

In addition to geoecological projects in high mountains and in polar regions, the ecology of agriculturally used eco systems is the focus of the scientific work within this priority area.

Both grassland and farmland use are considered in an integrated manner, especially with regard to land use changes such as fallowing or the cultivation of energy plants. The aim is to work out relevant indicators in each case, such as the humus and nutrient balance, soil structure, biological activity and topsoil condition, and to incorporate them into concepts for sustainable land use and soil protection in an application-oriented manner.

On this page you will find information about our research activities in the field of agroecology and soil research.
